For those of you who saw the CL final with the challenge between Ramos and Salah, what do you think? Explain why below, let's see how much or how little you all know about this sport. For those of you who did not see it, here's a clip of it below.
I vote no, it's not dirty at all. If you look very closely at the video, it was Salah who initiated the contact by hooking his hand around Ramos' inner arm, while using his shoulder/body to lean into Ramos trying to shield him off the ball (look 24-26 seconds into the clip). At the same time in the clip, pay attention to what Ramos is doing. He is lunging across Salah's body with his left leg and makes a clean tackle on the ball (does not go through the player, makes contact with the ball before Salah collides into him). Between the tug on Ramos' arm, the shoulder to shoulder challenge from Salah, and from lunging the opposite direction to win the ball, Ramos is already off balance, and falling the way Salah is pushing him. During the collision, Ramos' left arm is in a position that was originally used to shield and protect himself from Salah's body challenge, and transitioned into bracing for impact with the ball.
As someone who has reffed this game for over 7 years, coached for 6 years, and played my whole life, especially as a center back through high school, through college, and currently plays semi-professionally, this is a challenge that seen done, done it myself, or had done to me hundred's if not thousands of times before. Also, I am not a Real Madrid/Ramos fan at all, I'm actually a Barca fan. I'm not biased towards or against anyone here, just looking at from a professional viewpoint and making judgement based on the facts provided in the video, and other similar experiences.
For those of you that vote yes, I challenge you to actually give logical points that defends your point of view, not just emotions.
